Background to the project

RISE Ability Rights and Diversity and Disability are united by a single goal to make the settlement easier for newly arrived refugees with disabilities. We designed an icon-based online website that brings information to you in minimal English. The aim is to be a friendly website for those of Non-English Speaking Background, an online resource of:

  • Health clinics

  • Disability services

  • Complex case supports from Migrant Resource Centres.

HEALTH CLINICS

Locate refugee and asylum seeker friendly health clinics. Clinics that have refugee health nurses and medical professionals who can refer and advocate to GPs in the local area of Brimbank.

DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES

With our organizations' mission always is to be inclusive, we strive to find new avenues of informing the communities. Refugees and asylum seekers with disabilities and mental health needs deserve equal access to services in the local area and to know how accessible they are. Contact us to learn more.

 COMPLEX CASE SUPPORT

This website seeks to assist with supporting mental health and conflict impairments experienced by newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers. Migration Settlement and Complex Case Support can be managed through cooperation and community empowerment. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to lend your support from mental health, disability and migration sectors.

Diversity & Disability (DnD) program is a disability self-advocacy program. We provide support to people with a disability from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background to speak for themselves and achieve their full potential as valued citizens of the community. We also develop and run self advocacy groups and community outreach events.

RISE: Refugees, Survivors and Ex-Detainees (RISE) is the first and only refugee and asylum seeker

welfare and advocacy organisation in Australia, entirely governed by refugees, asylum

seekers, and ex-detainees.

RISE was established to increase refugee and asylum seekers’ participation and enable

refugees to build new lives by providing advice, engaging in community development,

enhancing opportunity and campaigning for refugee/asylum seeker rights.
